Anna and Dan’s wedding was actually quite unexpected for me! I stepped in just a couple of days before the event to help out another photographer who unfortunately had an emergency. But I’m so glad I could help and was honoured I could be there to enjoy the day with them.
I met Anna and her parents and bridesmaids at Shrigley Hall Hotel, where they had their bridal prep. Anna’s dress was a very elegant, lace gown and she wore a veil and fresh flowers in her hair. Everyone was very emotional as she put the finishing touches to her outfit. The bridesmaids wore stunning dusky pink, pleated dresses, with pastel bouquets in peach colours and eucalyptus leaves. They all looked fabulous on the steps of the hotel as they waited for the wedding car.
The whole day was a very relaxed affair, with a very special and personal ceremony taken by Dan’s dad at St Mary’s in Astbury, prayers shared with friends and live music in church by their groomsman. We then strolled through the churchyard and across to the field at Glebe Farm next door, where a marquee was set up ready for the wedding breakfast. The decorations were handmade and looked fab, with colourful bunting and pretty garden flowers with candles, and home-made marmalade favours. Their wedding cake was a giant tower of doughnuts! Dan and his groomsmen wore tweed waistcoats and jackets with their own choice of jeans.. I thought this suited the feel of the day perfectly and they looked great all together.
Here are my favourite images from the day, taken on a mixture of digital and analogue film cameras with my usual choice of prime lenses…
I loved being Anna and dan’s Congleton wedding photographer and thought their party was brilliant fun!
