On Monday I was in Windermere with Layla and Kelvin for their Lake District Elopement at Cragwood Country House Hotel. They had booked their ‘Just Us’ package and had travelled all the way up from Winchester for this super romantic day. Can you think of anything more romantic than escaping to the Lake District to be married in the most beautiful location, just the two of you when nothing else matters than being married? No pressure, no entertaining, no stress, just two days of relaxation, romance and returning home as Mr and Mrs with the most amazing memories!
I also felt super, super honoured that they asked me to be a witness, along with Hannah from Cragwood… so it was just the bride and groom, us and the registrars present. They were married in front of those epic views from the hotel in a lovely ceremony and Layla looked gorgeous with her blonde curls and that stunning Autumnal flower crown.
After the ceremony we then had a good hour to explore the grounds and get some gorgeous portraits of the new Mr and Mrs. We made our way slowly through the gardens and down to the lakeside where the sun was twinkling against the water and peeping through the trees. Layla was rocking some fab burgundy boots and her leather jacket and was up for trekking through the mud … not a bit bothered about whether her dress got dirty.. It was so much fun!
After just about making it back up that hill without sliding on our bottoms we returned inside where they had the most delicious looking afternoon tea, sat in the window and enjoying the views again. I left them to relax for the afternoon with no plans but to enjoy every second of their mini break!
Here’s some of my favourites from this romantic elopement…
