Happy New Year!!!
I hope you’re reading this having had a wonderful Christmas with the people you love most, doing your favourite things! For me that was relaxing with family, and a few friends, with far too much food and some hilarious games.
I thought I’d start the year with a bang by blogging on New Years Day!!!Â
So here’s a look back at Anna and Alex’s wedding, which was a Sandhole Oak Barn Christmas Wedding a few weeks ago. It was the weekend that snow descended here in the North West, so was a little challenging in terms of travel, but nothing too drastic. Thankfully I was able to easily get to Anna at her parent’s house in Didsbury on the morning of the wedding, which was where I’d met her sister Sarah three years ago when I photographed her wedding to Ed. It was lovely to be back to see some familiar faces again and see their wedding photos hanging proudly on the walls.
Anna chose the most beautiful, two-piece dress which consisted of a long and elegant pleated skirt and spaghetti strap top with lace overlay. It was understated and very pretty. The bridesmaids wore classic navy dresses with wintry but not too ‘over-the-top Christmassy’ red, checked shawls. I loved the look and they also kept everyone warm and cosy. The flowers by Blue Door were perfect! Cool eucalyptus greens and creams with the odd thistle added in.
The couple were married at St James and Emmanuel in Didsbury, in a warm and welcoming ceremony where the reverend brought his bike in! We then did a very quick confetti throw and they lead guests down the path and onto a double decker bus, which then took everyone over to Sandhole Oak Barn, near Congleton.
Sandhole is such a brilliant wedding venue.. The barn is spacious and quite light compared to other barns, with a gorgeous view out over the lake. The snow just made it really! Everywhere was completely white over… it was rather chilly but Anna and Alex were more than happy to brave the cold for a few quick portraits outside. Her red shawl draped over her shoulders gave the pictures such a cosy feel.
After warming up again they enjoyed drinks and canapes with their guests, before sitting down to dinner and speeches with lots of laughter and toasting of champagne. They didn’t do a traditional first dance but The Gillan Edgar band certainly made sure the dancefloor was full and the party was rocking. I left a lively party to make my way back into the snow….
