I absolutely loved being Gemma and Costa’s Micklefield Hall wedding photographer .. it was seriously SO much fun!!
Costa began the day with a traditional Greek ceremony at his parents’ home, where all of his Greek family and friends came to celebrate and wish him well for the day, with traditional rituals and lots of singing and dancing.
I met Gemma at the beautiful Micklefield Hall where she was getting ready with her mum and bridesmaids, who were also doing plenty of dancing!! Her Pronovias dress was just perfect with stunning detailing across her back, and a gorgeous pair of Valentino shoes to finish the look. Her flowers by Andrew Fleming Florist were rustic and relaxed, with pretty posies for the bridesmaids.
They had their ceremony outdoors by the pond, which was the most amazing and impressive backdrop I think I’ve ever seen for a wedding.. and obviously a photographer’s dream in terms of light. Gemma and her dad, along with her bridesmaids, page boy and flower girl, walked the length of the garden aisle and down the steps to where guests were seated around the water, and where Costa was waiting by the pavillion with the registrars.
After the lovely ceremony, they then made their way through their guests as husband and wife, and there was plenty of confetti and excitement. Guests were treated to canapes and drinks whilst being entertained by live music, whilst I took Gemma and Costa for a walk around the grounds of the venue for some relaxed portraits. The Wisteria on the Hall was in full bloom and looked fabulous. It’s such a fantastic venue with so much variety… the option of an outdoor ceremony, the large, rustic barn, the beautiful blossom trees and expansive gardens.. rare to find this so close to London.
After some slightly more formal photos we then all headed inside the barn for great speeches, tasty food and more celebrations. The evening reception was particularly entertaining, with a lively first dance and to top it all off.. Stavros Flatley of Britain’s Got Talent fame!! The guests were all just so much fun and had the best time partying the night away.
It was great to work with a group of super talented suppliers.. including my wonderful friend and second shooter, Sam, as well as A Piece of the Party film makers, Croxley Cakes, and Make-up by Danielle Copeland.
Here’s my favourite images from their special day..
