I’m still buzzing from my day yesterday at Elizabeth and Chris’ wedding at Hodge Howe in Windermere! It honestly felt as though we could have been on the shores of Lake Garda in the Italian sunshine…. it was just idyllic!!
They had a super laid back, relaxed wedding with just 30 guests and a marquee at the very edge of the lake. This venue is so quaint and pretty… it’s a tiny little lodge at the edge of the water just outside Windermere town. It is normally a waterspouts centre for Windermere School but the bride and groom and their party had sole use of it, and the surrounding grounds, for the whole day.
I arrived early and met with Janet from Wilde and Romantic who was just finishing styling the marquee and garden… it looked amazing!!! So many little details to bring the whole look together. Guests then started to arrive who were all equally as amazed at the location and views of the lake as I was. After everyone had arrived and the Prosecco had been passed around, someone spotted a boat coming in the distance across the lake… and Elizabeth and Chris arrived in style to a completely surprised crowd!! They had come straight from a very small ceremony with immediate family and nobody knew their surprise plan! They wandered up the jetty to join the party to screams of joy from their guests.
We had the best afternoon of mingling on the lawn, selfies in front of the lake, drinks, games and the most delicious hog roast from Stonehouse Smokery. They were seated in the marquee for dinner and speeches followed by coffee from Fellside Coffee and music from The Wild Murphys.
I stole them away for 5 minutes for a few quick portraits by the lake.. Elizabeth looked absolutely glorious in her Julia Tasker dress with hair and make up by Kym Birchall and flowers by Lily Lou’s Ambleside.
What and amazing, amazing setting and I’m still in shock that I didn’t have to get on a plane to enjoy these views and the heat. I absolutely love photographing Lake District weddings … it’s my favourite place!
Here’s a quick preview of this unbelievable day!
Thank you so much to Liz and Chris for having me for the day and making me feel so welcome. I’ll never forget this amazing day 🙂
